Description of the genus
Rhizome erect or short-creeping, covered with brown to blackish hairs, roots numerous and robust. Fronds 3 to 4 pinnate, first set of veins arise apically from the midrib towards the apex. Sori tubular, involucre truncate, receptacles long exserted.
Derivation of name: Abros: soft, dictyon: netted; the fronds of some species have a lace-like appearance
Comment: Abrodictyum was included in the widely circumscribed genus Trichomanes.
Worldwide: c. 25 species, pantropical distribution
